Re: rough idle

One of the other Irish guys was having similar probs with his Twinny and I told him to look up Throttle Reset on the forum.

He tried it last night and it solved his problem.

Re: rough idle

key to 'MAR' setting in ignition (lights on dash lit) 90 seconds
key to off 90 seconds
engine running 15 mins DO NOT TOUCH THROTTLE

take for a spin after

chance this will help, otherwise throttle body/ idle sensors etc etc need checked

Re: rough idle

Check your intake pipes between the throttle body and the MAF. A hole/crack somewhere will screw up your idle.

Check the lid of the airbox is secured properly to the rest of the box.

Does the car stall without any throttle, or is it just rough? Rough when hot/cold/both?

Re: rough idle

Both with mine...but runs smooth when the fan cuts in and rough when the fan goes of again. Runs smooth first thing in the morning when the automatic chokes on as well, but does not stall.

Have you checked the air filter? The fan thing is weird.. Wonder if it could be battery voltage related?

Re: rough idle

Just spent had it serviced at a AR dealer, they would have replace that wouldn`t they? I`ll have a check and mke sure its cliped down proberly and theres no holes/cracks or splits on the intake pipes etc...

V6s don't have them as they have an electronic throttle.. I wonder if the EGR valve is open at all though, that would make an idle dodgy..
