thanks guys. the problem is that when i start the engine i have full power then a red light comes on in the dash (next to the rev counter) and the revs drop off and i am unable to driver to drive the car. any suggestions

need to get the ECU codes read at a dealer/specialist

i wouldnt try and get it running till you do
