156 Stereo - what fits?!

Went to put my old CD player in my recently purchased 156 (early one) and to my sheer horror found that it's too deep. There appears to be a heater duct behind where it sits and the original unit is not as deep as this one.

Is it a common thing, or is this LG unit bigger than most?! Anyone else have a problem?
