Re: Car Diagnostic Tool

Build year doesn't matter much for a petrol 147

Alfadiag will work.

See Alfadiag.net for full info.

Re: Car Diagnostic Tool

Been looking at the possibility of buying diagnostic stuff but can you get it for a 2002 156 2.0JTS? Anything to look for and where would I get one?

oh yeah well spotted its petrol not diesel! so it legally must be eobd compatible on a 2001 model (2004 is only diesel, not petrol), so any eobd scanner will work (£25 on ebay, or similar price for a code read at a local garage)

I don't think that Alfadiag is compatible with the JTS.

I bought an Elm 327 interface and cable for my 2.0 JTS off eBay. It works well with the software that was bundled and another freeware package that I downloaded.

It has a USB interface and I had no problems setting it up, but I am using a fairly new laptop and you have to load the Elm USB driver software that comes on the disk then go into Windows Device Manager and make sure that the COM port number tallies up with the diagnostic software settings. All the instructions were on the disk.

It is generic so not up to the Alfa examiner standards but it only cost £30 and it reset my MCSF light, so it is worth it just for that instead of paying £40-80 a time to robbing garages.

The Examiner.
Well over £3000 and you can't buy it anyway.

Sorry, no DIY packages available yet for early JTDs.

Re: Car Diagnostic Tool

Alfadiag works OK, I am used to Examiner but that is too much as it contains all vehicles of the Fiat group (including Innocenti....) Alfadiag covers some 6 ecu's including the selespeed and airbag MY97
at 50 quid it is cheap considering the hours of programming and tests that went in it.

Hi,

Is there anything for a GT JTD-m 05 plate?
Can you reset the service light with these boxes?

Re: Car Diagnostic Tool

One question...

That EOBD cable you're talking about...is that same as OBD-II cable or OBD-II is something different??

Re: Car Diagnostic Tool

OBD-II is the same but the VAG cable must be modified to enable airbag operations on the Alfa

And I've got it and it works with my '52 JTD ... although I've also tried some EODB software and that works too

Re: Car Diagnostic Tool

Hi

Sorry to repeat the questions that have already been asked but I cant find an answer. I have a 156 2.0 TS X-Plate (2000). I havent been able to find out what ECU is in it. Can anyone tell me what I need to get into the diagnostic? is it EOBD? If not, would AlfaDiag work? or could I use something else?

Cheers
