GT Rusty Wheel Nuts....

Hi,

HAs anyone had the same (not serious) problem as me? I've got an 07 plate GT & suddenly all the wheel nuts have gone rusty making the alloys look awfull.

Has this happend to anyone else? Any quick fixes?

It's going for a service next month would replacements be covered under warranty?

Thanks all,
Neil

We've all got rusty nuts

Some people get them chrome plated or you could go for these;

Painted mine satin black - the reason some rust quicker than others is down to the use of Alloy Wheel cleaners with acids .

Re: GT Rusty Wheel Nuts....

Just take them off one at a time, give them a quick go with a wire brush or some sandpaper, and a coat of hammerite smooth silver. Job done, and you don't have to cope with the embarrassment of mirror finish wheel nuts

Yes, never ever use WonderWheels, as the nuts go rusty after one application.

Hey bazza is this hammerite stuff matt or gloss finish... have 17 ti alloys on mine and my nuts are rusty as well.. The wheels were refurbished before i bought the car so they are not the exact silver finish as original colour ... They are a brighter silver..

You think the hammerite would be okay?

Have a look at the second picture here:
http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/gener...usty-hubs.html (Rusty hubs)

That's what the smooth silver hammerite looks like.

You'll notice that it's a similar colour to the wheels themselves, unlike those terrible bling mirror-finish chrome covers

Re: GT Rusty Wheel Nuts....

Are 916 wheel bolts 17mm though? I'm thinking not. All later cars are 17mm AFAIK Mine haven't come yet but the 4 I have left out of the set of 20 I bought for the GT fit just fine Fingers crossed
