Brake Judder

Just got my 147 (I love it).

One thing I noticed whilst braking hard from high speed is that the brakes judder a bit.

It's just had a new bearing on the right front.

I think therefore new disc (and pads) are required. Am I right?

If so, is there anyone in Essex you'd recommend?

Ta. Oh I'm sooooooooooooo happy to be back in an Alfa!

Re: Brake Judder

Probably slightly warped discs which can happen especially if they're near to their minimum thickness. If this is the issue then new discs will cure the problem.

Replacing discs is a fairly straight forward job that most people could manage themselves. However, if you don't like to get your hands dirty then any small backstreet garage will be able to do the job.

Re: Brake Judder

Had exactly the same on my 156, it was slightly warped discs, had them replaced and then it was fine ....

Sound like I might have to get me hands dirty next weekend. Cheers!

Re: Brake Judder

I have experienced this on 3 or 4 cars I've owned. In every case it was only the pads causing the problem.

Cheap Halfords pads or pads that have not been bedded in properly before braking hard making them overheat.

I replaced the pads with better quality ones and took it easy on the brakes for around 200 miles. No problem.

If your disks dont look like they need replacing, just change the pads.
