Hmmm 156 climate control unit

Can anyone help me out with what I am sure is a very simple thing to fix. I recently fitted a Blaupunkt Hamburg head unit in place of the factory jobbie. To bring the USB lead out under the ash tray I had to remove the climate control unit. For comfort and curiosity I disconnected all the plugs. Everything went back nicely and seemed to be working fine.........until I needed to demist the windscreen! A/C is fine, directional control is fine...........just no warm air, not even tepid. Should I have disconnected the battery first? Is it all can bus stuff?????

Any and all help will be appreciated chaps.

Re: 156 climate control unit

All i can relate is my experiance, the climate control was removed to change the consol facia. When it was all back together I could only get ice cold or red hot, ie no control. just has to be reset on examiner, half hour labour at a dealer.

Re: 156 climate control unit

Hello Mitch, many thanksfor that. I was on the phone to Autolusso this morning, they advised that I check to make sure that no pins are bent following replacing all the plugs. If that's all fine I will probably take a trip to belfast.......local dealer in Sligo is dreadfull!!!!!! They only ever want to replace ECU's at €500 + every time.

Re: 156 climate control unit

I think i may have a similar problem to this. All works fine (heat/ air distribution etc) except no cold air. Have had system all checked out by independant car air-con engineer and we traced problem back as far as the control panel. Gas ok, electrics ok, pressure switch ok, compressor/clutch ok etc.

Now the control panel was removed and replaced sometime ago as I asked the garage i bought the car from to take out a mobile phone cradle I didn't need. I'm wondering if they put the unit back but didn't allow it to reset correctly?

Will disconnecting the battery and re-connecting after half an hour reset the climate control unit or just the stepper motors?

Half hour labour at dealer to reset ECU sounds fine as long as that's all they decide to charge. My local dealer is Desira - Norwich.

Sorry if this doesn't particlularly help that much but as they say a problem shared is a problem halved (apart from the bill!)

Re: 156 climate control unit

Cheers Mitch - will do.

Has yours been all ok since the reset?

Don't you think it's a shame that we should all feel so wary about going to dealers?
