Window regulator failure, switch failure (but rarely both), broken wire, loose plug, ignition off , blown fuse, faulty window ECU, any of the above can happenand all still allow the other windows to function perfectly.

Re: passenger window not opening

Does it make a noise when you press the button? If so the problem is the regulator in the door. Both my rear windows didnt open but you could hear the motor when the switch was pressed Changed the mechanism in the door which had snapped cables on each rear door. If no noise is made and niether switch operates the window then i would try the things mentioned above.
I am breaking my old 156 so if you need any parts to fix it let me know

Re: passenger window not opening

Hi there mate

Thanks for getting back to me. This is on a car that im thinking about buying. The guys says that there is a motor sound when he pushes the button but no window movement. It sounds, from your description, that it is the regulator in the passenger side rear window. Any thoughts on how much to replace and whether it is something i can do myself??

Cheers

Re: passenger window not opening

Not a difficult job to do yourself. Pleanty of cars breaking on ebay so probably about 20 quid and a hour or so of your time. My rear window regs went into my diesel so i dont have one. Cheers
