GT 1.9 JTD service - Gonnella Brothers Catford

Quick post to say that I took my GT 40 miles away to the Gonnella Brothers in Catford for it 48k mile service having read about them on Alfaowner.com. I'm pleased to report that they seemed to do a very good job.

Only cost £212 for a full service including replacement of the offside sidelight, and they cleaned the idle control valve and gunk out of other bits in the engine and lo and behold, my average mpg has gone up by about 10 per cent. Price was excellent compared to £450 that my local main dealer wanted! They cleaned the engine bay too - so much so that I could have eaten off it.

Oh, and Pasqual and his son were very friendly. Seemed like real Italian car enthusiasts too. I was chatting to Phil (?) who said he is saving up to get a GT to replace his current GTV. They have the right kit too, including that computer thing they plug into the Alfa's electronic bits.

I'll be taking the car back for its next service in 12k miles in about 6 months time.

I had my 166TS serviced with Gonella Bros a few months ago. They were very friendly and efficient and cheap... Will be going back there for future servicing without a doubt!

Re: GT 1.9 JTD service - Gonnella Brothers Catford

This sounds like the service they gave me on my 164 and 75 when I used to live in the area. Sometimes I did find the organisation a little Italianate especially with courtesy cars (though that may well have been due to other people not returning them on time) and I do recall one or two slight issues on diagnostics. IMO my present garage (EMC Racing) edges them in some respects but I wouldn't hesitate to deal with Gonnellas again.
