Radio code - disconnecting battery

In other thread about performance issue some guys are talking about disconnecting the battery to reset the ecu, can'y find any codes in all the guff that came with the car. It has the sony single shot head unit that I believe was standard across the UK 156 range, is it an encoded unit?

What model is it? Most Sony units aren't encoded, certainly not the face-off ones.

If it's a face-off unit then these generally aren't coded because the security lies in the fact that you actually remove the face and take it with you when you leave the car so there is no real need to have a security code on the unit itself.

Waste of time resetting the ecu unless you have a specific problem with it. It might feel better initially but it'll soon be back to how it is now as it re-learns the car. In my opinion that is!!

Hi, If it is encoded.......... and if it's a "face off" it won't be........ you can get the code from codes4u.co.uk .......... they charge a fiver but they are good........

Cheers
