Help 156 Electric Window Probs!!

Seems to be quite a common fault but my rear drivers side leccy window froze the other day!
I went 2 Alfa & got a reconditioned regulator unit (£65 all in, not bad!) took the door panel off and was about to remove the white film when it started to chuck it down..great British summer eh!
Anyone know where you get the replacement foam / film stuff for after i've replaced the regulator?? I assume it has to be replaced as its glued on with some proper strong foam type glue so must be making it watertight??

Re: 156 Electric Window Probs!!

are you sure its the regulator?

might just be the switches, do either of them work?

i usually stick it back down with duck tape, its less mess and easier to take off next time.

duck tape it is then, especially as its 20quid for a new one off Alfa!!
Checked the swithces but they're both fine - when you press the switch front or back the relay clicks and the motor just groans...the window is permananetly stuck about 2inch down now - until i fix it tonight anyway btw Jug that's a good lookin motor, ICE pretty good too

Re: 156 Electric Window Probs!!

oh you can hear the motor! in that case the glass is stuck, a common problem becasue people tend to use oil based lubricants on the windows. you must use silonce spray, nothing else. first use some alcohol spray to clean the runners, then use silicone spray to lube them. you should be able to get the window down if you help it wiht your hands while using the switch at the same time.

Yep, good shout from Jug - the rubber seals around the window "dry" up with age. Spent several weekends removing and refitting the regulator / motor on my wifes car only for it to keep jamming. Invested in some silicone spray from generic high street car accessories retailer - less than a fiver - sprayed loads around the window channels at sides of window and good a new since
