Re: Cruise Control

I tried to use mine without refering to the manual - and failed.
If you want I can write a description based upon my GT manual. Let me know and I will escape from my office and get the manual. I never use the cruise control so dont remember from my head.

Re: Cruise Control

I needed a break so here is the very much simplified procedure to use the cruise control.

Turn the ring on the stalk marked on/off to the on position.
Take the car to the desired speed.
Turn ring marked +/- to the + position and hold for 3 seconds.
The car should maintain the desired speed until brake or clutch are activated.
Momentarily turning the ring marked +/- to the + position will increase the desired speed by approx 1.5kph.

As I mentioned in previous post, this is for a GT. I cannot be sure it is the same for a 147.

Cheers

Re: Cruise Control

You don't need to hold the +/- ring for 3 seconds on my 147, just a quick twist.

Re: Cruise Control

Once you have pressed the brake pedal and want to get back to the set speed then press the button at the end of the cruise control stalk and the car will take over and get you flying again. Its the coolest part of cruise control!

Re: Cruise Control

I always just depress the cluch pedal slightly to disengage cruise, seems less harsh & doesn't scare the people behind.

Me too, but I don't like doing it when the engine's pulling (I hate unnecessary clutch slip) - So annoying when a Cancel button would allow you to use it properly...

Re: Cruise Control

hi guys, I have had a similar problem on my 147 as well. first of all, I tried doing it the old fashioned way ie not reading the instruction book. with now success but then last ditch solution, get the book out!

I got it to the speed I wanted, turned the button from off to on, on the lever and then pressed set and nothing happened sadly

I have to say I didnt turn the other ring with the plus and minus on? is that vital part of it?

In the book, it says about little light coming on when it is engaged but couldnt get it to do this.

Am I doing it correct? If so, is it likely to be a fuse issue or is it trip to the dealer?

or am I doing something blatantly wrong?

cheers

Re: Cruise Control

It ONLY works when you turn it on and THEN nudge the + switch.

I know this is also something that Clarkson complains about on Alfas, and I have to agree. I'd much prefer to so-called 'reset' button to be a cancel button to turn off the cruise control. If you're on a motorway then you don't really want to be pressing the clutch or brake, and turning the on/off ring back to the off position is a bit of a pain.

Re: Cruise Control

tried it again, did every option I could do to get it to work eg holding it for 3 seconds, releasing straight away etc but still no joy so it is looking like it could be take it into the dealer to get them to sort it.

Check the switches behind the brake and clutch pedal's first to make sure they arent misaligned - this is the usual fault.

My cruise control stopped working and it turned out to be the clutch switch. Replaced the switch and now it works perfectly.
