When does the cambelt need officially changing on the GT JTD?

Going to look at a few GT JTD's this weekend hopefully a few have around 50K's on the clock but the cambelt hasnt been done! When does alfa recommend the belt needs to be changed?

72,000 miles or 4 years (whichever is sooner), although most people think this is too long.

I wouldn't tackle it personally, I was charged £600 for mine including the 72,000 service by Central Alfa in Dudley. If you just want the cambelt changing you should be able to find a specialist to do it for less than £300.

According to the fixed price service menu in Piccadilly Harrogate, the cambelt service is at 6 years or 72k miles.

most would go with 4 years or 60k as a max rather than the recommended

I think 72K is fine but its the age I worry about most. Sitting on a motorway at a constant speed probably doesn't wear the belt much. But accelerating, starting and stopping the engine probably cause a lot more. I can't imagine the cooling/freezing of the belt in winter does it much good either.
