Crazed My car is lying to me

When it was cold my car told me it was -18.5 degrees outside. This was a month ago and in the UK. Now it is hot my car is telling me its 30 degrees outside. I know for a FACT its not and when I drove around and the body work cooled down the temperature display went up.

I have a GT and I believe the thermometer is in the wing mirror.

How much is a new one? can I do it myself? can I reset it? does it need a new ECU/Body computer? Does this happen to anyone else?

I suppose it does not matter a great deal other than when it is cooler the 'ice warning' indicator comes on which is slightly annoying.

Any advice very welcome.

Think this must be a "feature" of the GT as mine told me it was 38 degrees today.

Re: My car is lying to me

Same here, it's on the driver's side mirror, so directly affected by the sun, really annoying and apparently the CC uses this information to cool the inside of the car - if anyone knows how the sensor can be re-located to somewhere sensible, it would be good to know, but I guess it would be too difficult - are 147s and 156s the same? What about the 159?
