Hi, I'm a newbie to Alfa, bought a 55 reg 147 jtdm lusso yesterday, which I'm pleased with but I'm trying to find out how to display the mpg i'm getting.

Only little thing I know but its nice to know isnt it?

Maybe he wants to use it to measure performance - using more fuel = more power

Alfa owners are very likely to be interested in their car's performance. And mpg is just one aspect of a car's performance along with handling, acceleration and top speed. The more miles per gallon you get the more time you can spend driving it and enjoying the handling, acceleration and/or top speed, not stopped at the pumps!

Re: Average mpg display

I didnt take offence so dont worry, as I said above i get paid mileage to take my car so the more mpg I can get = more money to spend on said alfa

Re: Average mpg display

Hi Jules, it sounds like I'm in the same position as you, I declined a company car and opted to stay with my Alfa. The only down side is that I'm currently doing in excess of 500 miles per week I too keep an close eye on MPG and have found it OK if you anticipate traffic so no sitting on the guy's boot lid; smoooooooth is the way to go - and that doesn't mean you have to drive slowly

Re: Average mpg display

yup thats right..
i do 100 miles per working day now that im in the university.. in fact from the time i bought the car ive done an average of 70 miles per day. fuel costs [1.062 euro per litre] have reached 2500 in these 10 months.. surely i could save a lot more by driving a different car.
if i had the choice to pick another car...

i would still chose the alfa!

Re: Average mpg display

I'm going to be doing close to that mileage this week and I should get paid close to £170 for using it this week, the main expense being petrol to come out of that obviously. There is other running costs as we all know but it's still under warranty and as for service costs, the family business is a franchised mitsubishi dealership, so those should be kept to a minimum.

Re: Average mpg display

I get paid per mile, too so I try and get the most out of a tank, especially with fuel prices as high as they are now!
