147 air con not working

Now that summers here...........

i don't think my air con is working at all. When i press the air con symbol, with the temps set on Lo obviously, the light comes on but there are no other indications that the air con is working.

Which is to say that the air temp coming thru the vents is the same as with the switch off. Also the other 'tell-tale' indications are absent - no clicking noise from the compressor (?) in the engine when i turn on, no blip in revs at idle speed. no sapping of power when on the move.

So...i just don't think it works. What should i do next to confirm or try?

If its not blowing cold air then i'd say its fecked mate. Take it to a garage for confirmation. My 147 on Lo freezes the tits off me so if your not seeing any change then get it looked at.

2001 car probably just needs a re-gas. Halfords will do it for £45. If the regas doesn't work then they don't charge. Otherwise take it to an aircon specialist.

Not sure about re gas as not at all convinced system is operating at all. Does anyone know how i can test to see if the whole thing is working at all?

If the gas is too low the compressor won't kick in.......

If you've never had it serviced or filled it could just have run low as they do lose a little each year.

If halfords do that no fix no charge then that seems like a good 1st option.
