Help Engine blown on 156 2.0 TS

Hi all,

Had a bad week, blown the crank & top end on my 2.0 TS so its new engine time.
I've been offered by my mechanic a 2.5 V6 for £400 plus full service and fitting so waiting for a complete price.

My question is has anyone done this?
Will it require a gearbox, cooling and/or exhaust upgrade or does it just bolt on to the existing kit?

Any advice welcome or anyone got an engine for sale?

Cheers
Rich

Re: Engine blown on 156 2.0 TS

Are you talking about putting the 2.5V6 engine into your 2.0TS?

That is a very big job.
A short and far from complete list of parts to change would be:
engine
gearbox
clutch
gear-linkage
gear lever
front sub-frame
front suspension (mainly springs)
Engine ECU
Rev-counter
full exhaust system (inc Cats)
Coolant expanson tank
coolant hoses
Power-steering tank & pipes

So,
either get a 2.0TS engine for your car
or
sell your car as spares/repair and buy a complete 156 V6

I agree with DaveC, Keep it as a 2 litre unless you are a glutton for punishment, or have a complete V6 to swap the parts from. (or both)

Cheers guys, the responce I was expecting really.
Think its time to say goodbye to the Alfa and don't think I'll replace it with one... for now. Until I can afford something a little more special.

Looking to go Jap now, Celica or FTO maybe...
