Re: Timing belt replacement on 156 2.4JTD

The 16v & 20v use the same pump
and
the 8v & 10v use their same pump

I couldn't remember if it was the 8&10 or 16&20 that were seizing.

Re: Timing belt replacement on 156 2.4JTD

16&20 pumps have been seizing an awful lot in cars fitted with the 16v diesel engine, although I've never heard of it happening in a 20v but that must just be down to chance or the fact there is a lot less 20v engines around.

It seems as these cars are coming up 3 years old, even though they are another 2 years off getting the belts changed the cambelts are snapping, after a bit of diagnosis it turns out that it is due to a seized waterpump.

Having a cambelt that can last 72K or 5 years is no good if theres a good chance the pump will seize after 3 years..

Back on the road: Alfa 156 3.0 24v V6, Silver with red leather, Q2 diff, GTA Teledials, headlights & inlet manifold, AutoDelta carbon intake,
decat pipe and SuperSprint rear box, FK coilovers, Dastek Unichip - my 245bhp beast!

Gone but not forgotten: Alfa 156 2.4 JTD Veloce, Vela Blu, Angel 'mad map' & BMC CDA, Ferodo DS2500s - the fastest tractor in town!

I expect it is down to the numbers of 16v JTD in 147/156/GT but the 20v only in the 156.
The percentage of 16v JTD 147 & GT must be very high.

I think most GT owners on here have a 1.9 JTD..
