Re: JTD or JTDm?
The JTD is a 120bhp 8v SOHC engine.
http://pictures.autotrader.co.uk/img...a?id=671931306
The JTDm includes an 8v 120bhp version (available in pre and post facelift models), a 16v 140bhp (pre-facelift) DOHC version and a 16v 150bhp (post facelift) 16v DOHC version.

All are common rail direct injection diesel engines but the JTDm (red m-jet badge on the rear boot lid, and in the case of the 16v, additional 16v letters on rear boot lid and engine cover - see above picture) has uprated injectors which operate at a higher pressure than those in the earlier non-m JTD. The 8v JTDm engines never reached the UK though.
There's also a 16v 170bhp version of the 1.9 JTDm engine scheduled for inclusion in the Ducati version of the 147

All correct, but this is on a 147. This thread is about the differences between the JTD and JTDm engines fitted to the GT. Yes, there are more variants fitted to the 147, there's also other variants in the Vauxhall Astra, Vectra, Saab 9-3 and Saab 9-5.

Speaking of which..
.. the GT Q2 which was displayed on the Geneva Motorshow earlier this month also had the 170 bhp engine (recognizable by the red sport button next to the handbrake, just like on the 147 Ducati version).

Spot on, the "m" just means revised injectors over the "m-jet" cars-But perhaps you better let Alfa know that the (sohc) 8 valve m jets never made it here, as their website and brochures say they re on sale now and have been since the facelift!

What are you trying to say here?
The 147 JTDm 8v with 120 bhp is available in the UK.
And there is reason why the GT 1.9 JTDm 8v never made it to the UK: Alfa Romeo never produced it.

Re: JTD or JTDm?
Dessauer is correct - though people are getting confused between the different availability of engines in the 147 and GT.
There's no such thing as a GT with 8v JTDm engine in the UK - they're 16v. Don't know about other countries though. However, 8v JTD engines can be found in earlier GTs.
There is a 8v JTDm engine in the UK but that came with the 147s (along with 8v JTD engines and 16v JTDm engines). Though as somone has already mentioned this thread is about the GT.

Re: JTD or JTDm?
so was it possible that you could get an 8v JTD GT in the UK....? all the ones I have come accross in the classifieds seem to be either 16v mjet's or jtdm 16v - all i want is a JTDM GT - cant seem to find out when they switched the engines though - was it 05 or 06??

Re: JTD or JTDm?
No, its not possible to get an 8 valve GT at all, none where made, the 8 valve engine was only available in the 156 and 147. I say was, but it IS still available, in the 147, 159 (on the contiment), Fiat Grande Punto, the Bravo, the Multipla, the Vectra, the Astra, the Zafira, Suzuki SX4, Fiat Sedici, Lancia Musa, Fiat Idea, Fiat Doblo, Fiat Croma and loads more, the list is endless

And don't forget the 20v models - mine has the red badge and is indeed a JTDm.

Re: JTD or JTDm?
Selespeed - you're quite right -no 8v GTs about - all 16 valvers.
The aim of this game is put the words "147", "GT" (or both words) against each row!
I've started it off by sticking in GT against three of them
1.9 8v JTD (115)
1.9 8v JTDm (120)
1.9 16v JTD (140) GT
1.9 16v JTD (150) GT
1.9 16v JTDm (150) GT
1.9 16v JTDm (170)
2.4 10v JTD (136)
2.4 10v JTD (140)
2.4 20v JTD (150)
2.4 20v JTDm (200)
Bonus points for identifying Euro3 and Euro4!

Re: JTD or JTDm?
The first use of the 150 engine was in the GT, it was never available with the 140 engine.
The 2.4 150 was NOT 20 valve, it was 10 valve. And you ve missed off the 175 20 valve and the 210 20 valve, altough none was available in the GT.

Re: JTD or JTDm?
Something like this?
- 1.9 8v JTD (100) => 147
- 1.9 8v JTD (105) => 156
- 1.9 8v JTD (110) => 147, 156
- 1.9 8v JTD (115) => 147, 156
- 1.9 8v JTDm (120) => 147, 156, 159
- 1.9 16v JTD (140) => 147, 156
- 1.9 16v JTD (150) => 147, 156, GT
- 1.9 16v JTDm (150) => 147, 156, GT
- 1.9 16v JTDm (170) => 147, GT
- 2.4 10v JTD (136) => 156, 166
- 2.4 10v JTD (140) => don't know that one
- 2.4 10v JTD (150) => 156, 166
- 2.4 20v JTD (175) => 156
- 2.4 20v JTD (180) => 166
- 2.4 20v JTDm (200) => 159, Brera, Spider
- 2.4 20v JTDm (210) => 159, Brera, Spider

Re: JTD or JTDm?
Yeh, pretty much. The 2.4 JTD 140 was put in 2001 model 156s. The 170 isnt "officially" in anything yet and theres no mention of which Alfas are gettin the 180/190 1.9 jtd twinturbo (or anything else other than the Saab 9-3) anywhere yet

Re: JTD or JTDm?
Yeh, but none are on sale anywhere yet, and theres very little info about them. Is it a 150 with a tweaked ecu or a detuned 180 twinturbo?

Re: JTD or JTDm?
The 147 Ducati Corse is already sold out (I assume as it was a limited production model).
The 170 bhp is a 'regular' 1.9 JTDm 16v but with changed Ecu and without the Diesel Particle Filter. In normal mode you get 150 bhp and when you set it in Sport mode (red button next to the hand brake) you have 170 bhp to play with.
