Help Squeeky 156

I have just bought an R plate 156 and it has started squeeking from the o/s/f wheel arch....I can't say if its the suspension or a steering part BUT IT IS DRIVING ME NUTS....whilst amuzing people as a squeek my way past them.
There does'nt seem to be any knocking , just the squeek.
The car also has blue springs which the old owner told me where Koni.....I'm not so sure, he also said it is lowered but it does'nt look it.
There are no markings on the springs.
So my questions are can any body give me a direction on my squeek and does any one know who makes blue springs?
Thanks!

Re: Squeeky 156

koni make blue springs.
the squeak is probably a bush on the upper wishbone, squirt some silicone spray on all the bushes on both wishbones, a few hours later you should notice if it has made a difference.

Re: Squeeky 156

Thanks for that....maybe they are koni then!
I have tried giving all the bushes a good dose of lub but no joy so far, for some reason it sort of sounds as if it maybe the car side of the bottom arm but I can't decide...the real problem being as soon as you un load everything e.g. on my jack it goes silent where as when its loaded you only have to close the door and its enough to get sound out of it, going lock to lock sounds awful!

oh lock to lock does it, in that case get some spray on the contact point between strut and turret (where top of suspension meets car)

Re: Squeeky 156

just done another half a tin of WD40!!!!! Left it a couple of hrs while I polished her....the car!!! !! But no joy....I'm a tinkin it could be the lower arm as the sound seems to be behined the wheel hub and I now have a noisy heat shield as well so I am gettin rather miffed.....I can feel a strip down comin on tomorrow afte so will report back on my findings.

Re: Squeeky 156

Right !!! After another inspection this afternoon it is 99% sure to be the rear bush on the lower wishbone so I need a new un!...Any body know where to get a cheap one, there on E Bay ( ) but with p&p thats like £45.for a lower arm, thought I might have found a cheaper one!
The rattling heat sheild was the Lambda sensor had rattled lose...but no engine management light which shocks me so thats sorted which is a 50% success rate this afte.
Found a bit of rot behined drivers wheel liner as well but thats Alfa's 4 u!!
Its still a vast improvement on the Suds I used to buy 15 years ago!

You can just replace the bushes at £10 each, but that can mean a lot of fun geting the old ones off, the arms should be £70 each and Iget mine from the bay, buy a pair and fone the guy, sure the postage on both wont be over £15. If it's been lowered though, it might just be that th springs aren't seated propely. Most likely to be the inner arm bushes though.

Re: Squeeky 156

changed the bottom arm on the drivers side...that was fun for a mere mortal with only 2 arms and hands BUT JOB DONE No more squeeks.
because i had been treating the bushes to WD40 for the last week or two to try and stop the squeek the bolts came out nice and easy and it was a bit of a peach to do really! As I said the gettin it back in was tricky, trying to get it passed the roll bar and lined up...I needed my mates help to get it all in position but once he was ther it took about 20 mins to refit....car drives lovely and the squeek has gone.
The whole arm with all bushes and new ball joint cost £44 inc p&p off a company on 'the bay' who were buggers for delivering it (didnt send it till I complained on 3rd day and ignored all my calls there after) but cheaper than any where local even with the p&p and its a new boxed arm..............SO MISSION COMPLETE!
