Cleaning 156 dashboard

What is the best way to clean the update 156 dashboard? I once used a damp chamois, but small particles remained in the rough texture of the finish.

Re: Cleaning 156 dashboard

I washed mine down when I first got my car with a bucket of very diluted washing up liquid and an old face flannel, then dried it with a towel. It was easy and looks great.

Re: Cleaning 156 dashboard

Best thing to use is very clean damp microfibre cloth with a little mild soap solution, for the gauges I use wipes that are designed to clean LCD screens, avoid using ammonia based products. I also avoid using dash trim treatment products.

Cheers...

Re: Cleaning 156 dashboard

I use Cockpit Premium from einszett Car Care Products | Interior & Exterior and a microfibre cloth - leaves the dash looking clean, but with a matt finish.

CraigM - That stuff looks good, can you get it from Halford or is it just mail order from that link?

Karn - Doesn’t Cockpit shine leave your car all greasy and shinny? That would not go well with the post 02 spec

Re: Cleaning 156 dashboard

Think it is mail order only (never seen it in Halfords) - but it is well worth it as it's the only one I've found that doesn't leave a horrible shiny finish.

Re: Cleaning 156 dashboard

Have a look at Car Interior Detailing - Autopia Car Detailing Forum

For a low gloss sheen, I would use Poorboys, very easy to use and a nice smell. Over the years I have tried a number of cleaners but for me, Poorboys stands out as the best.

I use a dishwashing sponge, spray a small amount onto the sponge, a common problem is to apply to much, wipe the plastic, leave for a few minutes and buff with a MF cloth.

If you have any problems with greasy marks or you want a perfect finish, clean the dashboard with something like Autoglyms interior cleaner and then apply the dressing

Re: Cleaning 156 dashboard

Do you guys have armorall products over there?

I have used their cleaning wipes basically a chux cloth with some solution in it.
Worked awesome, made the dash look basically new, very black but not shiny.
Last did it over two months ago and it still looks good.

Re: Cleaning 156 dashboard

Easiest way is with some foam cleaner and some old packing foam, cleans it great and leaves no bits.
