GTA Intake Modification Completed

This idea was blatantly copied from those lovely guys on 156.net

Today I have fitted the air intake pipe from a 156 GTA to the air box of my 1.8 TS.

The pipe is similar in shape to the V6 pipe that many TS owners have fitted in the past but it has a bigger bore, the same diameter as the inlet hole in the air box, with no 'kinks' in it to restrict air flow.

The picture below shows the difference between the two pipes.

Re: GTA Intake Modification Completed

I would say the difference is similar to when fitting the V6 pipe. It's a bit noisier and a bit more responsive.

Next thing you know you will be bolting a supercharger or a turbocharger onto it.

Theres a 147 GTA aswell as a 156 GTA so if the GTA pipe will fit a 156 twinspark then it will fit/should fit a 147 twinspark(same twin spark engines after all, just different shells). You can make it fit aswell,if it isnt a perfect fit.

147 uses a different intake pipe but the same airbox as the later 156 and GT. Pipe is completely different shape and looks much shorter than 156 pipe.

Parts and prices below for this interested.

Part No Description Qty Cost (£ pre vat)
12624101 PLANE WASHER 1 0.21
15697604 SCREW 1 0.12
60630491 SPACER 1 0.74
73503254 AIR INTAKE 1 11.45
7663916 PAD 1 0.89

Updated this posting to include the V6 and TS intakes for comparison:
1) the 147 GTA intake system
2) the V6 intake pipe is the 2.5 V6 version not the GTA as eper doesn't distinguish in the picture, just the part numbers
3) that long intake on the TS is for eastern european countries, obviously where the noise emissions are far less strict: £35 from dealer!! £44 for original TS resonator unit ...
