Anti Roll Bar Upgrades - Is it worth it?
Hi all,
Looks like my front ARB is dead so needs replacing, I'm toying with the idea of replacing it with something like the Eibach ARB Kit front and rear.
I know it will have a positive affect on handling but I'm unsure what affect it will have on ride.
I'm also planning on upgrading the suspension to Koni FSD + Eibach Springs later in the year so how will the car feel with all these suspension mods.
I'm looking for a balance of comfort and all round good handling, does an uprated ARB Kit feature in this?
I've also read that the 147 GTA ARBs are stiffer than standard, how much so versus the Eibach kit versus cost?
Cheers for all and any help.
Sean

I have Eibach ARB's on my 156 and they do make a difference - but worth the cost...I'm not sure. I didnt notice any significant loss of comfort after fitting them.
You can fit the ARB's from the GTA (at least on the 156 and would assume the 147 is the same) which are a bit thicker than standard but not as thick as Eibach and probably significantly cheaper.

Last time I checked, the GTA bars were about half the price of the Eibach.

Thanks for posting, what does it feel like moving from standard to the eibach, how would you describe the overall affect?

Re: Anti Roll Bar Upgrades - Is it worth it?
The main difference is obviously that the car corners flatter - very noticeable when taking roundabouts quickly and general cornering feels more controlled but dont expect a huge difference.
You can throw the car hard into a corner with more confidence and especially noticeable when changing direction left to right at speed........I think I've just convinced myself they were worth it
But you could achieve similar results with a good set of springs and dampers so I'm not really sure if they are worth the money and cost to install. If you already need to do the front ARB then hard decision

Yup, considering the front ARB only costs about £60 OEM, I wonder how much the GTA front ARB is, might be worthwhile looking at putting that on for a small benefit vs cost considering my other suspension mods I have planned.
I suppose what I need to know do modifications to suspension 'stack' experience wise.
Thanks mate

This sounds interesting...
So how much does it cost roughly to get fitted or is it a job that I can do?

David, sorry mate never saw this post, cheers for that gives me food for thought, how would you rate them vs standard 147 if you have experience of them?

My indie quoted 3 hours labour, not sure how you do it but 3 hours sounds fairly intensive, however that was based on aftermarket ARB where you have to split the OEM fixings off the original ARB and then fit them to the new one with the new ones bushes which I think may be quite a difficult task seeing as they appear to be welded together and zinc coated.
Presumably OEM stuff like the GTA ARB will be a straight swap???
EDIT: Another thread mentions front ARB fitment requires dropping subframe
