146 injection troubles
I am sorry to make my first post a questions, but I'm getting a little desperate here...
(Hello all BTW, my names Chris and I have a 1999 Alfa Romeo 146 2.0 ti)
I have just bought this car and am having some engine troubles.
Whenever the engine is running, hot or cold, the idle is a touch erratic.
When you rev the engine, come to a stop or even when you start up it will rev from around 900 rpm up to 1400ish rpm, dip to about 700 and then stabilise itself back at 900ish.
It as if someone's just quickly jabbed the throttle and does this without fail.
When you drive with some "spirit", it will flicker the injection warning light when you change gear at over 3-4000rpm.
After about 10 or so minutes driving it will sometimes just put the injection light on permenantly, though this will clear if you stop and restart.
I would say that there is little power below 3000 rpm, but I'm assuming this is charactoristic of the engine.
What seems wrong is that there is little power high up too - it struggles to rev past 5,500 rpm and doesn't feel too "hot" up there at all.
Also sometimes it will stall at low speeds for no reason - it's not common but can cut out say after you pull away and go for second and occasionally if you're in gear and just lift off.
The car itself has done 85,000 miles, reasonable history, recent cam belt and there is no variator rattle.
Where do I start?!
