145 boxer suddenly idling at 1500 rpm

Good Morning all, for some reason my 145 1.6 boxer has suddenly this morning stopped idling correctly. The revs don't fall below 1500 (usually idles about 800). The only thing I did differently this morning was I left the engine running for about 5-6 minutes whilst I scraped the ice off outside and defrosted inside. Anybody any ideas what causes this, please? TVM

My first guess would be the air flow meter...

If the boxers have a Maf, there could be a vacum leak somewhere beyond it. Look for cracks/splits in the inlet manifold and pipes.
