not sure where in Pershore, but its only a small place. His no is 01386 555523. My brother took his 156SW there and was happy, took it to the dealer and was not. As a guide an indi Fiat place did a diagnostic for £20+VAT, but give him a call, I am sure it can be sorted readily.

My money is on a leak rather than a sensor problem. If the beast is sucking extra air in somewhere that will cause the ECU to bung more petrol in there to compensate and the idle will increase even though you aren't touching the throttle. Essentially an airleak replicates a bit of throttle on.

EGR seems to be the best least-explored prospect.. otherwise trace the route of the inlet from the airbox all the way to the injectors and if you think you have any leaks or cracks.. put some PVC tape round the joint to see if it drops the idle down to normal.

I'm assuming too that the throttle does have slack in it (i.e. is not actually engaged) and that the revcounter is reading right..?
