Hi,would really appreciate some advice,my heaters only kick out a gentle warm and this seems to be slightly warmer with all vents turned off apart from windscreen vent!Ive taken part of the dash, above glove box, out to see behind fan and temp switch i can see blue cable still attached to temp switch ,as i turn switch the cable moves in and out, looks ok but dont know about the other end!Bit scared to start taking all the dash apart so i thought id ask you guys first, thanks in advance
are you saying the heater blower is not working? or the volume of air coming out is insufficient for the fan setting? or the temperature of air coming out is not hot enough?
i) likely to be fuse, relay or unit itseld, fuse is No 13, relay is 3rd from bottom in fuse box, or the connectors, start with fuse and relay first, easy check, the fan is behind the glovebox, disconnect and check for power.
ii) in addition to the temp control there is also as flap that closes in front of the heater fins when cold air is required, if that flap is stuck shut you will not get any warm air. Its one of those blue cables you have seen, there are three.
iii) this is the most likely, on the end of the blue cable you saw, was there the white retaining clip? You say you can see the cable moving, the blue sleeve should not move, just the wire inside connected to the heater valve. Often the white retaining clip breaks and instead of the valve moving the blue cable moves instead as it offers less resistance and you get not heat or cannot turn the thing off, depends where it was when it snapped.
The cables are only £4 ish each, but can be a bit of work to get at as part of the dash has to come out, the heater is yet more work as even mor dash comes out, plus the passenger airbag if you have one.
