Re: should i sell my 156 & get a 145???
I knew I was risking a great deal of wrath regarding the 145's handling (perhaps steering sa much as handling). We had a 1.6 by the way though I'm not aware of any diifferences that would mark a cloverleaf out in terms of handling? Maybe I'm wrong.
Having replaced the 145 with a 147 I thought I'd give my impressions, even though by now I'm well aware I'm firmly marked out as in the looney camp. The overriding impression of the 1.6l 147, stepping out of a 1.6l 145, is of slowness. It really doesn't seem as swift or to dleiver torque with the same kind of satisfaction. And to my mind it's not better looking, just different. Apart from that most things are more to my liking as a useable road car. It's steering is a world apart from that of our 145. I've only driven a couple of others rather a long time ago on test-drives. It's ride is better but still firm. It's lighting is better (what were they thinking of when they fitted plastic projector light lenses?). One thing that is worse than the 145 is the gear change, again I'm mystifies as to how things can go that badly backwards, in fact what was the need to change it? Oh, and another thing the 145 never did was drinnk oil, this 147 does a bit.
Doesn't say that in the manual
