I had this on mine.
The way I did it was to lift the carpet and work from inside the car.
Welding downhill is easier.
I think there's a box section that supports the seat that gets in the way.
You should also expect to find a bit more rust than the MOT tester did when you strip back the underseal but as long as you know a good welder it won't be a problem so you should start asking around.
I know one here (about 80 miles away) if you can drive the car. He MOT welded our van chassis to a very high standard for just £35!
The photo should show it reasonably and can I blame the poor welding on poor tools?
