Please help an Alfa noob with a misfire
I picked up my second hand 1997 (R) Alfa 146 today. It's done 80,000 miles and has just been (so I was told) fully serviced. I drove it home and before I got here it started labouring at lower revs. I don't mean like at 20 mph in 5th, I mean like turning left at a junction in 1st or 2nd or 3rd at a roundabout, depending on the speed of road conditions. It lurches, stutters, coughs and farts and will not pull until it decides it's pi**ed about enough, then picks up and goes. The garage I got it from is almost 40 miles away and it's a right royal pain to get there. Fortunately the guy did give me a months parts and labour warranty so I'm not too concerned yet, although I am a bit ticked off with my initial experience of an Alfa.
It also sounds rough at the top end, like a tractor is how my friend described it, when we started it with the bonnet open earlier. I have seen on this site that there is a part that can cause this. Could this be a fault too?
I'm scared now that I've bought a cow and am going to need to go see the guy to get my money back.
Any help would be appreciated.
