before you buy make sure you've read all the buying advice in the various lounges, at 1500, you will be able to get a minted 145/146/155, and you will be into 156 territory too,
1.6's are generally considered a little underpowered but that obviously depends on which car it's fitted to, the 1.8 is slightly more straight forward due to the lack of balance shafts and not hugely dis-advantaged in the power stakes, 2.0 is a good engine but is more expensive to service, all are very sensitive to poor servicing so look for evidence of good care....
as for styling, I really like the 145 but never had one and if it's a daily hack for getting back and forward to work then that'd be my choice, if you need 4 doors, 155 or 156, the styling of the 155 is an aquired taste, I think it's great, finding a truely cherished one is getting more difficult now and as for the 156, there's little doubt that they are better built than all of the cars before and just feel more modern and accomplished, so long as you keep an eye on the oil it should serve you well for 000's on miles
and if you're interested I've got a 1.8 156 I'm selling,
pm me if you're interested or even just want some advice from someone who knows these things inside out
