Re: '96 155 V6 with climate control....
Thanks for the thoughts guys....but on the climate control version, that unit is an electronic speed control/feedback device...and it's OK. (I know it's OK 'cos I removed it, took it to bits, replaced the two output transistors only to find they were fine...then noticed that when the fan speed was set to full, the relay inside this unit clicked over as well...and the diagnostics for it report good too....). It's a low-side device (switches one side of the fan motor to ground) but I didn't discover this until I'd taken it apart and figured it out. Shame I didn't find the manual page before, as this is all documented. Doh. Still, I suppose it proves I haven't totally lost it.
I managed to find the right section in the workshop manual this morning...and it looks as if the main power feed for the blower fan comes from under the bonnet, not the main fuse board (despite what the user manual says...)....so I'll check that next and report back.
If all else fails it'll be a flying lead to the blower motor fed from the ciggy lighter for sure!
