i have found my way to this forum as a new member having bought a 146 ti (S Reg), which was parked up five doors down from where i live, having a flat tyre and about to be towed off to the breakers yard. As you can guess i didnt give a lot for it (non starter).
Other than a bit of rust caused by stone chip on the bonnet the body work is just about spot on. Managed to bump start her and considering she has 124 thou on the clock she sounds very sweet indeed! Took her for an M.O.T. and she only failed on headlight aim and emissions.
Work done so far includes starter, alternator and a few other bits and bobs, bought from Sherburn Motors, Sherburn in Elmet, Nth Yorks, who, by the way, have at least four 146s that they are breaking if anyone is interested, as well as various other alfas
This car is phenomenal. O.k. my fuel bill has risen rather rapidly but who cares? The only fault i can find with the car is that at low revs whilst turning the steering the car stalls. So here starts the quest into what it might actually be.
I was told by the guys at the breakers yard that it could be the idle control valve. Has anyone on the forum suffered similar problems?
Would be grateful for any advice at all, especially as this is my first ALFA and i understand that they are slightly quirky cars to own i.e. keep a very close eye on the oil level!
