Re: 146 1.9 JTD (2000) Acceleration ( lack of)
Hi there, the lack of power is a common fault of Bosch equipped Diesel injection systems.
It's the Air flow sensor that is knackered. Bosch didn't do a good job on this. Mine did go belly up two times, the symptoms were the same as yours. Usually they cost a little fortune ~ € 140,00, but you can get them cheaper at ebay. I paid € 45,00 on ebay last time.
Sometimes it helps cleaning them out with carb- or brake cleaner.
You'll find the sensor in the hose between the air filter box and the intake manifold, its held in place by two bolts, after removing them you can pull it out.
Apart of this the JTD is a very reliable engine, there is only one other known problem, thats the pulley for the alternator belt that serves as a vibration killer. If its gone, you have a rattling sound when idling.
I can promise you nothing but blood, sweat, oil and tears
