doubt this will push the boundaries if technical challenges, but answers would be of especial help to me given my hand difficulties
i got a shiny new alloy gear knob for my '96 146, original 'ain't that bad, just a bit rough on the hands.
i recently saw the hassle steveb had with his knob -- steady now chaps--
and want to avoid the same happening, if possible.
how do you go about removing the original g/k, of the 146? i tried an unscrewing move but got nowhere. however, that could be my weakened hands too, i just don't know.
replacement seems to have adapters to suit most cases, a threaded ring to drop on first, some plastic fillers to go inside the alloy knob to keep the original hight, grub screws and then screw up the alloy sleeve.
i hope the old one is as easy to get off
i don't really want to hack it off, if at all possible
destructions much appreciated
