Update guys.... left the car into alfa.... here is the results
left the car into alfa service guy. he reset the errors and drove it. the lamda error came back in as did the speedo one as expected (my speedo stopped workingmonths back, but this was unrelated to my running issues).... he did the same again. same deal.
he said he then fixed the speedo and reset the errors (lambda and speedo error) and he cannot get the errors to come back into it. he said "I'll be honest with you, I
drove it hard and I drove it fast (pause)..... in the interests of
seeing could I get the error back into it" eh....
he said I should take it and drive it over the weekend and give him a
bell on monday. I said I would, so I'll pick it up in the morrow.
drive it all weekend and see if it gets skitterish or hesitant etc.
he said its new to him too, but he reckons that the speedo "speed
improbable" error has something to do with it? is that possible?
anyway, he could not get the lambda error back into it. It usually comes in within minutes of driving. And Im sure he gave it a good drive too.... I drove with him in the morning before I left car, and the car was hesitating and having fits, so he knew what to expect etc. he said he cannot get it to repeat this behaviour. The "lambda above upper limit" error is not returning either. Is it possible that the car uses the speed sensor to determine fueling at all? he was unsure himself. new one to him.
no mention of payment. I said I would pick up tomorrow morning and drive it
over wekeend and give a call on monday. but in theory he could charge
me for the speedo fix and the diagnostic time, and 6 hours labour.
driving it around all day to determine problem etc. I hope the fcuk not. he
got to drive the ring out of it all day and use my fuel, so surely he
should be happy?
I would be.
im actually scareed of the bill now. but then again, if it appears fixed I will be prepared to pay any money... it was so bad beforeI left it in this morning that the power would disappear at 75mph on themotorway and the RPM would vanish. foot to the floor nothing...... then a huge POP from exhaust after 15 seconds and the car would scream up the RPM... seriously not happy. so we shall see.
would be amazing if the speedo sensor is somehow involved in determining fueling and running... I thought just air flow and rpm etc. ? ? ?
anyone any thoughts?
