Madness 145 Electrical Fault

Hi there this is my first time on this forum, i've has a quick search but i can't seem to find anything relating much to my problem. I bought my Cloverleaf last August and all has been fine except that the front fogs, horn and headlamp washers didn't work. Bit lazy so didn't look into it too much and thought i would do last week.

Found out that someone had taken the relays out for the fogs and the horn so i replaced them. A day later when driving at night all the lights went out, it happened just as i put my full beam on, checked fuses all ok, i have no control on the steering wheel switches apart from my indicators, my hazards work ok but my heater doesn't as well as my central locking.

I had a fiddle around with the fuse box and at a certain point when clipping it back up the lights will flicker for half a sec then go out again. Does this sound like a connection fault to the fuse box, or an earth fault. Also why are my hazards ok when the flasher relay is also in the fuse box with all the others!

Any help would be much appreciated, Cheers

Re: 145 Electrical Fault

That sounds like a short between the power from the battery to the chassis, in or around the fuse box.
That isn't the nicest jobs to have to work on as the area is a litle cramped.
I'd take the plastic shielding off around the footwell, and have a look for damp coming down from the windscreen area.
Then also search along the paths of the wiring looking for an exposed wire or such.
Also wriggle the relay connectors and see if one has become loose and is touching off other components.
