Everything was fine till I fixed the heated rear window c/o a link on this Forum.. ('twas the relay...
) but I reckon the Gremlin found a new home somewhere in the engine bay, rather than be exorcised from the fusebox forever and moving in next door...
Now (several days later and not related to the heated window relay, I'd hope!
) the '45 just decided to stop idling.
One minute it was fine and the next minute, it just dies when I whip the clutch in or otherwise try to have it idling.
The Idle control valve has been looking grubby for a while, with some oil mist on it or leaking from the base, so it's the likely culprit... but what does anyone else think?
Car drives okay... just if won't idle and the Code light stays on.. though sometimes when I turn the ignition off and on again it does go out as normal, until the car stalls again.
The car never doesn't die when the revs drop.. so it's not intermittent or patchy. It's a guaranteed stall every time.
To clean the ICV I gather I can just unscrew it and there's a spring that flies out... (I'll look for the "How to" link later...) but essentially, is it just a "bolt off, wipe it, sorted" job?
If I need a new one... where's a good place to buy a quality one? The beast is the original one, so it's been pretty good up until now. No problems whatsoever..
