Alfa 145 1.6 boxer supercharger

Hello all.
I have just fitted an Alfa 145 1.6 8v boxer into my kit car. Its just over the 100hp as standard. Im considering fitting a supercharger to the standard engine. Would anyone know what sort of boost I could run safely on the standard compression ratio and what sort of power I could expect to see? I quite like the engineering challenge but dont want to spend lots of money. If im correct I understand I will need to have the ecu remapped and fit a different map sensor. I plan to use something like an eaton M45 or the slightly larger ones fitted to mercedes models. Also if I have the supercharger fitted, will an improved exhaust design make much difference or will it be less noticable/neglegible after the charger is fitted?
Also (!) if i want to run less boost than the stock supercharger produces, is the best way just to change pulley wheel size?
Many thanks in advance....
