I lobbed new wishbone arms on the beast.. (my 145, this time... not the '55)
The nearside arm was a bit shonky being OE (14 years old and 118,000 miles..
) but at least the bolts all came undone without any pain..
The offside one was aftermarket and reasonably okay.. but the bolts weren't really having it, suggesting that Gazza Gorilla and Co. had worked on it.
Nevertheless, with every spanner in my toolkit, a blow-lamp, Shock-Unlock and finally an angle grinder
the bolts came off. I've now got two new shiny wishbones...
Now I need to replace all that manky iron-mongery, not to mention the grinded bolts that are now holding Boot to Hill...
They're M10 metric.... but what's the pitch of the wishbone arm threads?
They appear to be "metric fine".. but are they 1.25 or 1.0 pitch? I tried measuring them but the threads are too old and manky for me to be 100% sure (plus my eyesight has gone AWOL after two days beating the beast up).
I presume the anti-roll bar drop-link nuts are the same thread pitch (I may as well swap those at the same time).
The two bolts that hold the damper and the nut & bolt that ties the wishbone to the hub are less important since I can find matching nut & bolt "pairs" for those... but if I'm in the bolt shop I may as well get the correct sort.
