Alternator removal

I am looking to replace my alternator on my 147 Selespeed, my question is, I am going to change the roll bar bushes, so I have to drop the sub frame, therefore, would it be easier to take out the alternator at the same time? Thanks.

This is the 145/146 forum area so there probably won't be a lot of expertise on a 147.

However, it it's the TS engine then the altenator is at the bottom back of the engine (same as the TS 145/146). On a 145/146 you can either remove it from the top by stripping off a number of ancilaries and inlet plenum (this is the easiest way) or you can do it from the bottom although it's extremely difficult to do with the subframe on. If you're taking the subframe off yours anyway then I would certainly recommend doing the alternator while the subframe off if you know you need to change the altenator.

I won't be posting on this forum any more. If you want to know why and/or you want answers to some 145/146 related questions then please feel free to pop over to and post on the forum where you will find me with the same member name.

I have now disabled all my private messaging options on here but you can PM me over on the forum if you need to.
