Well if you are going to break it for parts, it's worth knowing if it's plastic top or ally top? Mine is a Plastic Top.
My air box is cracked at the bottom, I discovered the fault while changning the filter. It appears the previous owner overtightened it or something, but there is plenty of gap where the air simply bypasses the filter out of the engine bay. I also have a very flat spot between 2002-3000k and an erratic idle\occasional stall when putting the clutch down to stop. (Revs drop that low on the erratic it cuts) So I'm guessing that given the gapping hole in the air box, that chainge the MAF at the same time will do no harm at all.
I have however hopefully found a new starter motor, as yesterday, the pregressively slower starter I have, decided it finally give up. Quick look under the car when I got home revealed that the end cap on the solenoid was in several pieces.
