Heater fan replacement 145 TS 2.0
I was looking for some hints in [search] but to no avail.
For some time now I have a loud screeching noise on the heater fan, like plastic eating plastic when the blower fan is switched on. I knew it was an issue , probably bearing gone and motor turning ajar and touching the housing.
Now it only operates on highest switch position, the others are dead.
From research I noticed people are talking of some blown thermal fuse, which could be okay, given that the fan motor has more resistance than normal when running against the housing.
Now, I anticipate to change the whole unit and need advice:
1st: Is there a way to replace the unit without dismantling the whole dashboard and center console?
2nd: What are the costs for a replacement unit and where to buy (I am off the supply lines in Botswana, so maybe E-bay and courier service?)
3rd: Anybody with a parts number to ease the research.
4th: Any tips and tricks not to mess up the job?
The vehicle is a 1996 2.0 TS Cloverleaf, not sure if they are all the same in the interior section.
Thanks guys for some hints.
