I thought the 1.8 was pretty much the same except for the Balancer shaft belt. If so then the 1.8 will have the cambelt, tensioner, variator arrangement like the 2.0Ltr.

Whether the Twin Spark is better than the Boxer is sometimes a matter of your own taste, but perhaps more importantly, the consensus of opinion seems to be that the TS engined cars are better balanced and handle a lot better as the 145 and 146 was originally designed for the Twinks so the Boxer engined cars were always a bit of a compromise.
But then I've not driven a boxer engined 145 or 146! Try both your self and see what you think.
