engine bay black hole!

doh! whilst looking into my injector light problem, I pulled out a fuse in the engine bay, and dropped it into the engine bay. Of course now I've lost it!

Thing is I'm not sure if it's a 7.5 amp or 75 amp fuse!

I'ts a small brown spade fuse which suggests it's a 7.5amp. However I'm sure the one I dropped had 75 printed on it!

Its next to the blue 15 amp fuse next to some relays left of the car battery under a black plastic cover. Does anyone know what it's for, and the rating of the fuse? My manual suggests that there should be 15A fuse for the injection system, however there is no mention of a 7.5 or 75 amp fuse.

my car is a 97P 145 cloverleaf.

Re: engine bay black hole!

If it's the same size as the 15A blue one, it's deffo not a 75 Amp fuse, just a 7,5. A fuse with an amperage that big requires a Maxifuse and they come in 30-40-60-80 A versions ( maybe 70A too but I have never seen one)

The fuse is either for Lambda Sensor or Motronic control unit. Rating 7.5amp.

Re: engine bay black hole!

Tee hee! I had a garage pit like that!

A 75-amp fuse would run a nuclear submarine so a 7.5 one should be where it's at. If in doubt, next time, try the smaller one first - if it really was 75 amps that it wanted, a 7.5 amp jobbie would instantly pop.

I think the biggest fuse in general use is 30Amp by the way.
