Madness MOT Failure(Again!)

Hello all Alfa people out there.

Not had to use this forum for a while as the beloved 146ti has been running smooth as it bangs of the rev limiter time and time again!!!
But once again it's failed the MOT. With a new exhaust fitted and two new tyres I thought it would be plain sailing but oh no.

For some strange reason the emissions are sky high. Same as last year's MOT!!. Had the Lambda probe changed last year which solved the problem. Can't have failed again can it?. If so does anyone know why?. Also does anyone know of an Independent Alfa magician in the Taunton/Somerset area as I'd rather drag my privates over broken glass than go back to my local Alfa dealer!

Regards Neil

I'm not sure I ca help... but have you checked your airfilter? it might need replacing... Depending on the kms/miles your car has you also need spark plugs... you could check their condition (they are quite expensive... )

Other than that, I can't help much... may worth checking your MAF sensor or temperature sensor that sits on the thermostat...

all the best

Re: MOT Failure(Again!)

Our 145QV failed on emissions at idle.
The throttle potentiometer needed zeroing.

Re: MOT Failure(Again!)

Thanks Sergio
The air filter was changed last year at 65k service along with the plugs etc.
I checked the filter and plugs a few weeks ago and all seeemed ok.

What is the process for checking the MAF sensor and temp sensor?. Is it a basic voltage check?

By the way I have the 155BHP engine. I no this has a few different bits on it like the idle valve which failed last year.

Thanks for the reply

Thanks for your input.

How do you zero the potentiometer?
