I'd be happy enough with that.
Tried to check for any AC leakage, however I don't think the voltmeter is sensitive enough, it just flashes a few numbers!
Not to worry. If there was a faulty diode, you would know by now.
If a diode in the rectifier has gone could it be an intermitent fault, and could it cause the cooling fan to burn out in a short time? What about the cars other electirc components?
True, it should damage the other components. I just wanted to rule it out.
thanks for the help,
All I can add at this point is, you would be best to try find out if the motor or resistor (if that's what it is) has failed. You should be able to test both quite easily. Just expose the resistor let wiring and connect the DVM.
Then connect the battery to the two poles of the fan infront of the resistor. It should spin up very quickly. Be carefull...
Lastly, what changes/differences were made to the car between the time when it worked OK (pre Sept) and when it became faulty. Any accidents? Any odd noises?...
