At least everyone's using good oil. I also run a flush through mine before draining- though I wouldn't recommend it on a very high miler that's never been flushed before. Rather than 15w/40, Toad, perhaps try 10w/60. The 10w relates to the oils cold viscosity, and then, 15w is really too thick to flow into all the bearings and hydraulic lifters, so it takes longer to start lubricating (even though it shows oil pressure). The 40 relates to the oils working temperature viscosity and this is okay on most engines. For trackdays or on high milers, the 60 should help offer more protection and less oil consumption. Again, it all depends on the oil quality (shear strength, high temperature stability, evapouration rate, durability) and that comes from the quality of the base stock and the quality and quantities of the synthetic additives. Oils are definitely not all the same- even if there base stock is.
