Re: hi want to get more hp out of my alfa 146 can you help????
The main difference an induction kit makes is the sound, and improved throttle response. The best induction kit to fit is one like the Pipercross Viper filter. This uses a cold air intake (which you could duct via the bumper or the grill) It uses a cone filter, but it is concealed inside a canister, and the intake pipe fits directly into it. The problem with a standard cone filter is that even when using a pipe to direct cold air, in traffic there is no forced air feed, so the filter will draw in warm air, the Viper type filter avoids this. However, for £250!!! I really wouldn’t bother, unless you’re made of money, and think 2bhp will make a difference. The Viper kit claims an average 10bhp gain, but as with all filters, we all know they are lying. If you want my advice, remove the resonator box behind the bumper, replace it with a straight pipe and fit an uprated panel filter. You’re money would be better spent on an exhaust, de-cat pipe, and a chip.
