1996 145 Cloverleaf is revving too high!
Hi, This is my 1st post and I am not that Technical so here goes. I have an Alfa 145 2l Cloverleaf 1996 and it has a problem that my friend (a MV Tech) can't find what the cause is also his diagnostic thingy does not register my car....can any one help?
My car seems to fun fine then all of a sudden the revs go up from about 800 to 2k (whilst stationary), also when changing down gear as soon as I put my foot on the clutch the revs go up again and then once in gear decrease to normal. It seems worse when the engine is cold. It is really annoying and was quite hard to drive in the snow... in fact although I am a confident driver I didn't go out when it was bad as I can't drive it at low revs and was spinning all over the place... not good as I have my 10m old daughter with me!!! Also some times bunny hops whilst driving along for no reason.
I had the fuel bits cleaned out as we thought it may be dirty, had a service with spark plugs, air filters etc but it's still the same. I have heard that it's a common but no one seems to know what the cause is so it can be fixed!
I LOVE this car and want to get her fixed...Can any one PLEASE Help???
